Silk Road of Knowledge conference

The Silk Road of Knowledge conference is a regional scientific and practical conference that will take place online from 24 to 27 November 2020. It is being organised by the Kazakh-German University with the financial support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and aims to:

  • Identify scientific gaps regarding the impact of climate change in order to enhance constructive regional dialogue in Central Asia.
  • Generate knowledge about the impacts of climate change on water and land management, food, water and climate security, infrastructure development and energy efficiency practices in Central Asia.
  • Strengthen the emphasis on educational and youth outreach and experience-sharing.

The conference will provide an opportunity to share results and experiences from the Berlin process (2009-2019) and discuss how to fill remaining research gaps in future within the framework of Green Central Asia, a regional initiative on climate and security in Central Asia and Afghanistan launched by the Federal Foreign Office in early 2020. Recommendations collected during the thematic sessions will be presented during the closing session of the conference.

On Thursday 26 November, several CLIENT II projects in Central Asia will present their work during the session on "Land Management and Food Security under Climate Change" (9:00-10:30 CET).
