Kick-off for the CapTain Rain project

The CapTain Rain research project started with a stakeholder workshop in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The focus is on protection against heavy rainfall events, which have repeatedly triggered flash floods in the past, causing major damage. The BMBF reports on the project kick-off on its FONA website.

The project, funded under CLIENT II, aims not only at minimizing disaster damage, but also at contributing to the use of heavy rainfall in one of the most water-scarce countries in the world. Furthermore, the aim is to support the development of a risk management and early warning system adapted to the needs of the users.  Therefore, within the framework of CapTain Rain, innovative sustainable solutions are being developed to promote adaptation to climate change and the events in the region. On October 3, 2021, the kick-off event for this took place in Amman with more than 50 participants from Germany and Jordan. The german BMBF's FONA website provides more detailed information about this event.
