Regional distribution

In the subject area of land management, projects for sustainable land management are also funded in connection with the production of biotic resources and the conservation of biodiversity or ecosystem services. Other key issues are restoration and land recycling technologies, utilisation of agricultural residues and urban agriculture. The focus is on projects in the target regions of Central Asia (including Mongolia and the Central Asian regions of China and Russia), Vietnam, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco and the countries participating in African SASSCAL (South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia) and WASCAL (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo).

Key topics in this area include sustainable technologies and services in the areas of:

  • Sustainable land management also in connection with the production of biotic resources and the conservation of biodiversity or ecosystem services
  • Restoration of contaminated and heavily degraded soils
  • Area recycling technologies
  • Utilisation of agricultural residues and
  • Urban agriculture taking into account pollutants and land scarcity
