In the area of climate action/energy efficiency, projects are funded that contribute to reducing the emission of environmentally- and climate-damaging emissions, create energy-efficient infrastructures or develop climate-friendly energy and cross-sectional technologies and services. Projects are funded in Central Asia (including Mongolia and the Central Asian regions of China), Vietnam, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco and the countries participating in African SASSCAL (South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia) and WASCAL (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo).

Key topics in this area include sustainable technologies and services in the areas of:

  • Reduction in the emission of environmentally- and climate-damaging emissions (greenhouse gases, aerosols), for example by increasing energy efficiency in companies, value chains and the use of products
  • Energy efficient infrastructures and
  • Climate-friendly energy and cross-sectional technologies and services
