Peter Liebelt präsentiert CLIENT II beim IPBES-Workshop in Almaty

Training for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) in Almaty

The Institute for Biodiversity - Network e.V. (ibn) organised a regional IPBES capacity building workshop in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with funding from the German Federal Environment Agency's (UBA) Advisory Assistance Programme.

Representatives from CLIENT II projects were also recruited as participants and speakers. Peter Liebelt and Assiya Sagymbay presented the CASIB project office, a large number of CLIENT II projects and the new BMBF calls for cooperation with Central Asia. The 30 participants from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, including representatives of the German-Kazakh University (DKU), showed great interest. In particular, there were many questions and great interest from the Tajik participants in the use of the kendyr plant as an alternative to cotton. Nasyr Kanatbekov also presented the SUFACHAIN project.
